Dear Colleagues
We are pleased to announce that the 20th RACDS Convocation will be held in Perth, Western Australia. The Convocation will be conducted at the Burswood Entertainment Complex, 11-14 March 2010, and this invitation is open to Fellows and Members of the College, as well as our other Dental colleagues in Western Australia.
This premium biennial College event embraces the theme “Interdisciplinary Dentistry for the New Decade: something for everyone”.
The Scientific Program includes highly regarded international key note speakers, ably supported by Australasian lecturers. The Young Lecturer’s Award session will augment the Scientific Program.
A comprehensive Trade Display will run concurrently with the Scientific Meeting.
The Opening Ceremony on the 11th March promises much interest. Apart from the formal induction of new Fellows and Members into the College, the opening address will be made by an eminent former military officer whose career was at NASA.
The social events will enable opportunities to renew old friendships and network with your colleagues in a convivial ambience that only March in Perth, Western Australia can offer. The Burswood Entertainment Complex is a venue providing complete conferencing and leisure experience, with both four and five star accommodation options on site, 24 hour casino, golf course, day spa, restaurants and bars, all conveniently located within parkland on the shore of Perth’s Swan River.

Course Content
Day 1: Rotary Endo vs Implants & Special Evening Infection Control Supplement
- Dr Glen Weston, endodontist, will present ‘The Rotary Endo Revolution’ (1/2 Day) and will detail advances in rotary endodontic techniques and strategies for successful treatment outcomes.
- Dr Rod Marshall, periodontist, will present ’Creating a Farvourable Periodontal Environment’ (1.5 hours) and will discuss how to achieve periodontal stability and case selection parameters.
- Professor Saso Ivanovski, periodontist will present ‘Implant Placement Techniques to achieve successful long term outcomes’ (1.5 hours) and will provide an update of the latest advances in implant placement techniques.
- Professor Laurence Walsh will present ‘Update 2010 on Infection Control’ (2 Hours). This special evening session presentation offers a comprehensive overview for dental practitioners and is also applicable to other members of the dental team wishing to update their knowledge on new developments in Infection control and practice accreditation. Changes in Infection Control guidelines and standards and their implications for dental practice will be detailed.
Day 2: Crowning Implants & Advanced Composite Rehabilitation
- Dr David Roberts, prosthodontist, will discuss ‘Crowning Implants – From impression to cementation’ (1/2 Day). The presentation will include parameters involved in placing implant crowns, occlusal parameters to avoid failure, screw vs. cement retained systems and aspects to achieve optimum aesthetic outcomes in crown and bridgework.
- Prof Ian Meyers will present ‘Advanced Composite Rehabilitation’ (1/2 Day) and will focus on conservative rehabilitation and restoration, case selection and consider the latest materials – those that work and those that don’t.
